Snohomish on the Rocks: A Distillery Festival

With the passing of Initiative 1183 (Washington Liquor State Licensing), people will now be able to buy spirits at the grocery store starting June 1, 2012. But just how are we going to sort through all the distillery options in the grocery isle next to the peanut butter?

Snohomish on the Rocks is a distillery festival designed to take away the confusion and educate, collaborate and celebrate the passing of I-1183.

The festival is a fundraiser for GROW Washington, non-profit organization promoting local crafters and creators, and will have distillery professionals pouring some of the best spirits you will find. Check out this list:

  • Black Heron Spirits
  • Whidbey Island Distillery
  • Rain City Spirits/Black Label Spirits
  • Ellensburg Distillery
  • It’s 5 O’Clock Somewhere!
  • Mac Donald Distilleries
  • Project V Distillery and Sausage Company
  • Skip Rock Distillers
  • Sodo Spirits Distillery
  • Dark Moon Artisan Distillery
  • Oso Hills Distillery
  • Pilchuck Distilling Company
  • Sun Liquor
  • Sidetrack Distillery

Tickets for this event are available online at GROW Washington. You may also stop in GROW Washington at 1204 First St., or Skip Rock at 104 Ave. C in Snohomish. Tickets are $25 and guests receive five spirit tastings, delicious small bites, live entertainment and a keepsake glass. Guests will also be able to purchase a Signature Drink designed by the distillers themselves at the Signature Bar. Beer, wine and soda will also be available.

Come June 1st, you’ll know how to use spirits in marinades, desserts, or find the perfect cocktail for summer entertaining.
