If you haven’t yet pounded the pavement on Centennial Trail, we have the perfect reason for you to do it on May 19th!
The trail has been extended south toward First St. to provide a way for people to enjoy not only a thirty-mile sweat- inducing experience, but to walk to work, stroll to the library, shops, skate park, Senior Center and many other spots along the way.
Development of the trail began in 1989, during Washington State’s Centennial, and provided a unique use for the abandoned section of Burlington Northern Railroad.
CENTENNIAL TRAIL DEDICATION CELEBRATION
MAY 19, 2012
9AM-NOON
3RD STREET AND LINCOLN AVENUE (NEAR THE SNOHOMISH LIBRARY)
COMMUNITY BIKE RIDE TO FOLLOW
Representative Rick Larsen and Mayor Karen Guzak are scheduled to lead us in the dedication celebration, which will be followed by a community bike ride. There will also be a mini health fair showcasing local service providers, agencies and organizations. We invite you to break out your kicks (sneakers), roller blades, skateboards, bicycles and scooters. Grab the dog, the girlfriend, the husband, the kids, and join your community in celebrating this much anticipated trail extension.
And if you decide to stroll hand in hand and gaze at blooming flowers while whispering sweet nothings, we’ll never tell! Enjoy!
