The Snohomish Farmer’s Market is now underway every Thursday at 3pm until October, with a new Sunday Market beginning on June 2, 2013.

You’ll find everything you need to make your summer dishes healthy, quick and easy.

Shop for french radishes, purple beets, young garlic, green onions, artisan breads, vegetable starts, fragrant herbs, giant bouquets of flowers, and more.

In addition to the food, there is ice cream for the kids, honey sticks for everyone, wine for entertaining, jewelry, kettle corn, coffee and organic meat. You can literally find everything for Memorial Day parties this weekend, and upcoming outside shindigs for Dads and Grads. Every week vendors are showing up with new and exciting things.

It’s also a place to spot unusual dogs, smiling babies and a neighbor or friend. The market has become a destination. Make it one of your stops after a walk along the river or grab a quick bite to eat from one of the take-out vendors.

NEW SNOHOMISH SUNDAY FARMER’S MARKET

The Snohomish Farmer’s Market is celebrating its 22nd year, and have announced a new market that will take place on Sundays. The new Snohomish Sunday Farmer’s Market will be on Sundays, 11am until 4pm June 2nd – September 29th.

“This new market concentrates on selling produce from all the farmers and food vendors we love.”
Located at Third and Lincoln Avenue, at the old Hal Moe Pool site next to the Centennial Trail, Snohomish Boys & Girls Club, and the Snohomish Skate Park.

WHAT TO EXPECT ON THE TOUR

This self-guided tour takes you through beautiful chapels, breath-taking ballrooms, fairytale farms and more. Rustic meets elegance as attendees sample award-winning food, listen to the sounds of professional DJ’s, and take in the wide open vistas at many of our venues. Brides and grooms will have a chance to meet face to face with wedding experts, and lock in dates before 2014 fills up. Mark your calendar for May 19th, 2013 when Historic Downtown Snohomish will be transformed into a bike oglers paradise. The purpose of this show is to appreciate mechanical marvels that still perform decades after their first ride. It’s also a chance to view custom bikes, learn about safety and celebrate motorcycle awareness month in May.

First Street will be closed from Avenue D to Cedar Avenue, and part of Glen up to Second Street. There will be vendors, a band, and a lot of community participation. You’ll get to vote for your favorite bike and see if it wins a trophy.

While you’re downtown visit the shops, which will still be open, and eat outside on one of the many decks and sidewalks of our eateries. This motorcycle event has been a treasured one here in Snohomish. We’re looking forward to another year.

You’ve heard the phrase many times before, but piecing together the “Fabric of Our Lives” really comes to life when you see a beautifully designed quilt. Sometimes the quilts are made from clothes of a loved one who passed away. Sometimes they’re pieced together out of old denim faithfully worn by a granddaughter, and given to her on graduation day. Other times the quilt represents a favorite animal or flower or pattern. Whatever the meaning, design or idea, Snohomish residents have a new place to plan, purchase and learn at Diane’s Quilt Shop.

Nestled in the very back of Speckled Hen, you’ll find Mary, her mother Diane, and an array of beautiful vintage and new fabric in neat rows and columns. Looking up you’ll notice the handiwork in each of the quilts on display. Diane’s gorgeous quilt, “Sherbert Fizz” was featured in the quilting book ‘Serendipity’ and took her 136 hours to create. Everything you need to make a unique and artful quilt is at your disposal. But mostly what you’ll find at Diane’s Quilt Shop is a couple of very knowledgeable women, and a ready ear to listen to your idea, your story.

Everyone is welcome, from the hopeful beginner to the seasoned expert. Your story is just waiting to be stitched together.

“The Snohomish County Craft Beverage Guild is an innovative, county-wide organization designed to promote artisanal, craft beverage producers and other businesses that support our industry,” explained John Bell, owner of Willis Hall Wines and Chair of the guild’s new Board of Directors. “The Guild will provide a united voice for our industry with a focus on making our liquid art visible and available to residents and visitors to Snohomish County.  Our new website will provide all the tools needed to find and enjoy the delicious fruits of our labors.”

The interactive website is already in place and serves as a hub for locating wineries, breweries and distilleries in the county. LocalLiquidArts.com features handy search tools for finding events, production facilities, tasting opportunities, and retail outlets. You can also map out your own customized tours based on your favorite beverage category or geographic location.

LAUNCH PARTY

“Local Liquid Arts Weekend”, a 3-day libation celebration, takes place May 31 through Sunday, June 2. The roster of events includes facility tours, an exclusive gourmet dinner with pairings from each beverage category at Blue Heron Room at the Port of Everett, and a grand tasting festival on Saturday night at Edward Hansen Convention Center at Comcast Arena in Everett, WA. First, The Name

The name Curvy Cowgirl came to me one day when I was developing the idea for the Show Apparel business. I thought it was catchy, descriptive and served a client base that was overlooked by other stores. Being a curvacious woman myself, I had difficulty finding Show Apparel in my size. The line became so popular, I thought maybe I should expand my business into everyday clothing, and that is how I got into the business I am in today. I eventually phased out the Show Apparel and focused solely on women’s wear, and changed the name to Curvy Cowgirl Couture.

Girl’s Clothing and New Offerings

In July of 2012, the business was expanded to include Girls clothing. From Infant to Size 16 (the tweens). It has been
very exciting to have this new addition so well received. Since the expansion there has been a request for boys and mens
clothing. We will have a limited selection of both. Boys and Mens clothing will consist of Cinch and Southern Thread brand names.

What to Expect at Curvy Cowgirl Couture

When you come into Curvy Cowgirl Couture you will be greeted with a friendly hello. We are a very low key relaxed store. You will not experience high pressure sales here. We gladly offer assistance to anyone when they are ready for our help. We offer sizes 0 to 3x so we have a bit of something for everyone. We have a nice selection of western shirts, jeans, belts and boots. That is as far as the “western” goes in the store. Then we have the fun fashions: Maxi dresses, lots of blinged tee shirts. There is no shortage of bling! A great effort is made to carry items that are not offered anywhere else. I take great pride in trying to be different.

Doing Business in Snohomish

After several years of traveling across the country and setting up a 20 x 20 foot booth, it started to take a toll on me.
I decided not to travel any longer so I could spend more time with my family, so I came home to Snohomish. After almost a year of doing nothing, I missed the people and business. One day I went looking for a location and found Snohomish Station. I found the perfect spot for my business and the rest is history.

Scott Dyer’s new start-up, ScanMyList, “developed a mobile app that allows a cell phone to be used as a purchasing agent that can scan product codes, track quantities and select which merchants to buy from,” according to a recent article in the Puget Sound Business Journal. The app isn’t available to the mainstream just yet, but the company is already working with Seattle non-profit World Concern to help them more efficiently distribute life-saving aid in the Horn of Africa.

Small Business

“ScanMyList is a company dedicated to provide affordable and smart inventory and ordering solutions for small businesses. The solution includes smart phone applications as business tools and online dashboards that present analytics. We are not live yet, but we are in the process of beta testing,” according to the website.

The company was accepted into the Microsoft Accelerator program powered by TechStars, where startups have access to top-notch mentorship, technical training and support and the chance to pitch to angel investors and venture capitalists at the end of the program.

Congratulations Scott and team. Our small business community is looking forward to using the app soon.

Scavenger Hunt

Start Earth Day activities with a chance to win $250 worth of shopping certificates at participating stores. The scavenger hunt involves many of Historic Downtown Snohomish businesses. You can walk the charming streets, spot Earth Day Friend posters in shop windows and ask for a stamp. Once game-players have collected 10 stamps, they simply turn them in to the Snohomish Visitor Information Center at 1301 First Street. A random drawing will be held from all completed entries. Earth Day April 21

*Plus, $1 dollar from every registration will be donated to Bicycle Alliance, a cyclist advocacy group in Western Washington aimed at educating and promoting bicycle safety.
